In this mentorship, you will focus on bridging the gap between artistic vision and production reality. Mentor, Damon Woods, offers portfolio reviews, technical guidance, and career coaching for both newcomers and experienced artists aiming to enter or advance within AAA studios. From improving anatomy and storytelling in character design to navigating the job market, the goal is to provide actionable, honest feedback rooted in real-world production experience.
A seasoned 3D Character Artist with over 15 years in the AAA games industry, Damon has worked on major franchises like Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, contributing to high-fidelity, next-gen character production.
His expertise spans the full character art pipeline — from concept interpretation, sculpting, and topology to texturing, materials, and final engine implementation (Unreal Engine, Unity). He’s proficient with industry-standard tools including ZBrush, Maya, Marvelous Designer, Substance Painter/Designer, and real-time PBR workflows.
